Boxley Village Summer Poppy Field Sunset Portrait Session with Katie

I've been meaning to do a portrait session amongst a field of poppies for months now, and back in June whilst travelling to a weekend away I investigated an area just outside of the village of Boxley in Kent, which is a known hotspot for poppies in season - and it was glorious! A real carpet of red, and I knew I had to come back here.

After getting in touch with Katie, we decided to meet sometime around sunset to get a mix of daylight and golden hour photos. It was only a week later and amazingly most of the poppies had died down. Despite this we still had a great time (and we did find a few poppies still lurking), and it was a chance to play with new lighting techniques too!

Wanting to make the most of the situation, Katie brought her partner along to help me, and we even managed to get in an outfit change to a stunning white dress, which looked great in the last throws of the sunset and the warm, golden light.

It was super hard to pick my favourites from this session, as the colours and vibrancy of the scene was just incredible. It's a shame that poppies only really bloom for such a short time. If you'd like to organise your own outdoor summer photo session amongst some wildflowers, head over to my portrait photography page for more details, or get in touch here to enquire.
