Cromwell Hotel Stevenage Autumn Wedding with Laurence & Kelly

I travelled a few hours away to Stevenage in late October for a chat with Kelly the evening before her wedding, and it was obvious that she and Laurence had a pretty amazing day planned. I wasn't disappointed, and we had some autumn sunshine for their big day at the Cromwell Hotel in the old Stevenage town centre.

Friends and family all came together to celebrate, and the newlyweds were great fun and happy to have a giggle during their lovely couples photos in the hotel gardens, bathed in some beautiful sunset light - and a big shoutout goes to two of the bridesmaids for helping me with some extra lighting! The speeches brought more laughs and there were even a few tears during the first dance, with some dramatic photos outside rounding off this great day.

Knowing I was going to covering the wedding of Kelly & Laurence from pretty early in the morning, I decided to travel up to Stevenage the night beforehand and stay in a hotel, so I could be in striking distance of the Cromwell Hotel the next morning. It was a beautiful day for the wedding itself, not too cold and there was some striking autumn colours around the venue and the old town centre of Stevenage.

Kelly and her bridesmaids were all pretty chilled out as they got ready in one of the larger suites in the hotel, though there were the inevitable few tears as she got into her dress and her dad saw her in preparation for walking her down the aisle. Laurence looked pretty dashing in his suit as the ceremony got underway, and it was lovely to see the smiles from all their guests as they both tied the knot.

After the ceremony the drinks flowed on the patio outside and the group photos were lots of fun, but I had to jump into taking some photos of the newlyweds straight after, as this was the perfect time to catch that beautiful golden hour light as the sun went down. The small side garden at the Cromwell Hotel provided the perfect backdrop for some really gorgeous photos of the two of them before we all went in for the wedding breakfast.

The speeches were great and provided a real insight into both Kelly & Laurence's backgrounds, and a few tears too! Soon it was time for the evening to get underway, and after a bit of warming up on the dance floor it was time for the happy couple to take centre stage and cut the cake before having their first dance. A really rather emotional one at that!

Before I left on the long drive home I convinced Kelly & Laurence to come outside with me for a little while to get some more creative night time photos of the two of them outside the Cromwell Hotel. These are always great fun to do and make for some really amazing 'wow' photos in albums or on the wall! If you're looking for some laid back, documentary style wedding photography for your big day, have a look at my collections and pricing. I travel all over the UK and would love to hear from you soon!
