Dover Summer Equine and Portrait Session with Emma & Abi

During a bit of a lull in the summer wedding season, I put out a casting online to get in touch with some people around Kent that had some horses and might be interested in a photo session. As luck would have it, Becky, a great makeup artist who I had spoken to about working together in the past, has a sister-in-law that kept horses on the family land near Dover.

It didn't take long for us to hatch a plan and work together on this little endeavour - with Becky offering to do the makeup for Emma and Abbi before we headed out into the nearby fields with Maggie-May the horse. It was a bit of a breezy day, and we were pretty out in the open, but we found some sheltered spots where both the girls' and the horses' hair more or less behaved itself!

After the success of my previous pet pawtrait sessions with Rusty, Nora, and my friend's horses, I was keen to do some more and try out some new things, and this session with Emma, Abbi and Maggie-May was a great afternoon in the (relative) sunshine on the coast near Dover. The fields and the land we had to use had some stunning views over the nearby hills, and the girls were great models (and Maggie-May, who behaved brilliantly).

I did ask Becky to help me with some lighting from time to time, as the sun was out now and again, and I wanted to make sure any pesky shadows stayed away and the finished photos have a nice bright and airy feel, just as I like them!

I'm really enjoying this little extra part of my business, and it's great fun when the pets and animals I photograph have such awesome personalities and are so animated! If you would like your very own pet pawtrait session, or even a full on equine photo session like Emma and Abbi had, then head over to the contact page and send me a message for more information or to book.
