Hothfield Common Winter Couples Portrait Session with Kim & Jamie

I've known Kim for many years now, she's one of my oldest friends, and I owe it in no small part to her encouragement for embarking on my photography journey. She and Jamie are due to get married later this spring in the Caribbean (sadly I won't be taking the photos!) so I thought I would ease them both into having their picture taken as a couple, as I gather it's not something they are massively comfortable with.

We couldn't pass on the opportunity to bring Rusty along, too. It didn't seem so long ago that I took some beach photos of Rusty when he was a puppy - now he's just huge! Still just as playful and fluffy though, so it's ok! We headed to Hothfield Common again to enjoy a bracing winter's day outside.

Having done a few photo sessions at Hothfield Common over the autumn and winter, it was great to introduce Kim, Jamie and Rusty to this new part of Kent. I wanted to make this photo session a bit of a mix of couples photos and some of Rusty too that I know Kim would really love (when we could get him to sit/stand still, of course!) We had a great time exploring the heathland and I'm sure they'll be back with Rusty for walkies again in the future.

One thing I always start with when photographing couples, is to ease them into the process and to let them know its about being with each other, not about worrying how to stand or pose for the camera. After a quick rundown of some basic poses, they soon got into the swing of things and it wasn't long before they were basically pros!

It was great to see them both be silly and laugh with each other, and with Rusty, too, and we got some great photos on this otherwise cloudy winter's day! If you'd like to find out more about my photo sessions or pet pawtrait mini sessionsget in touch today to get the ball rolling.
