Having never been to Ranscombe Farm before, I arrived a little early so I could have a quick look around the area to get some ideas and inspiration. This is something I always try to do at new locations, and it's especially important for new wedding venues. The weather was pretty changeable, and through the session the sky would change from dramatic clouds to bright sunshine which made for some really varied photos!
I'd not seen Rebekah and Jez since our initial booking meeting, so it was lovely to catch up with all their news and gossip and get some updates on their wedding plans. It wasn't long before we settled into the swing of the session, after giving them a crash course on some key poses.
Whilst I definitely encourage more natural images and interaction, I do try to get some classic 'facing the camera' photos too, and having a pre-wedding session gives couples the opportunity to go through the motions of learning both aspects, and getting used to being in front of the camera. Something that Rebekah & Jez got used to super quickly!
Ranscombe Farm provided some lovely backdrops for us to use, from patches of wildflowers to fields of wheat, to dramatic views over the river and beyond. Wanting to add a little excitement to the finishing shots, I let them loose with a couple of smoke grenades to add a pop of colour as the sun was starting to dip below the tree line.
This was such a fun afternoon, and these two really were naturals by the end. I can't wait for their wedding in October - I just know it's going to be amazing! If you'd like your own pre-wedding or engagement session, remember you get a discount by booking with one of my three wedding collections.
